REIKI
Relax and heal.
WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and healing. It is done with touch. It feels like warmth emanating from the palms of the practitioner's hands that is soothing as the Reiki energy works with the client to release tension and create a sense of peace and love that relaxes deeply.
Reiki comes with many great benefits that help create peace, self-love, relaxation, and healing and allow us to learn how to heal ourselves and others. Anyone can learn Reiki and is taught in one two-day weekend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shushin-Do Reiki is a system I created to return to the origins of Reiki as taught by Mikao Usui. Rooted in traditional Japanese practices, it emphasizes spiritual discipline, direct energetic experience, and personal cultivation. “Shushin-Do” means “The Path of Cultivating the Heart-Mind,” reflecting the core purpose of this practice: to live with clarity, integrity, and inner peace. It includes elements such as Reiju (spiritual blessings), kotodama (sacred sounds), meditation, and teachings drawn from Buddhist sutras.
-
Unlike modern adaptations, Shushin-Do Reiki focuses on direct energetic experience rather than visualization or symbolic activation. Instead of one attunement or placement for each level as done in the west, students receive multiple Reiju blessings, engage in spiritual practices, and grow through commitment and inner realization.
-
You don't unclothe for a Reiki session. Reiki is not the same as massage. Depending on your needs, Reiki can be done seated or on a massage table. Prior to receiving Reiki, you will fill out a health intake form and create goals and positive intensions. Together you and the practitioner will create the intention for your session. The Practitioner will than connect with the Reiki energy and the session will begin. Sessions are offered as 55 and 85 minutes.
-
Shoden (first level) is open to everyone. Okuden (second level) requires completion of Shoden. Shinpiden (teacher level) is for serious practitioners ready to guide others and commit to daily practice. Private mentorship is available for those pursuing deeper teachings.
-
No. Reiki is non-invasive and works in harmony with your body’s natural energies. Shushin-Do Reiki encourages self-awareness and spiritual balance, and does not interfere with medical care.
-
Reiju is a spiritual blessing or empowerment that connects the student to universal energy. Unlike attunements, it is not a one-time event but part of an ongoing relationship between teacher and student.
-
Yes, symbols are introduced at the Okuden (Inner Teachings) level, but they are not the primary focus. In Shushin-Do Reiki, greater emphasis is placed on kotodama which are sacred sounds or vibrational mantras and meditation upon the energetic qualities behind the symbols. The goal is to embody the essence of the teachings rather than rely on visual or mechanical use of symbols.
-
We offer Shoden (Foundations), Okuden (Inner Teachings), and Shinpiden (Teacher’s Path). A deeper retreat-style training is also available for students seeking spiritual realization through the Heart, Diamond, and Lotus Sutras.
-
Yes. One-on-one instruction is available by request, especially for those seeking deeper commitment, mentorship, or teacher-level training.
