What is Myoskeletal Alignment?

Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy (MAT) is a specialized hands-on bodywork system designed to correct muscular imbalances, improve posture, and restore proper movement patterns. Unlike traditional massage, MAT focuses on finding the root causes of pain and tension and addressing them directly through precise techniques and stretches.

Changing the way you feel.

Whether you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from injury, or looking to improve mobility, MAT in Milwaukee is tailored to meet your needs. Clients can also choose massage therapy for relaxation and tension relief or Reiki for energy-based support.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy is an advanced form of bodywork developed by Erik Dalton that blends deep tissue massage, joint mobilization, and postural assessment. It helps release chronic tension, correct muscle imbalances, and improve movement.

Although the name can sound similar to chiropractic care, MAT does not involve bone manipulation or adjustments. Sometimes, natural joint sounds (called cavitations) may occur as tight muscles release, but this is not the goal or focus of treatment. Our primary focus is helping the physical body heal by addressing soft-tissue imbalances that contribute to pain and restricted movement.

  • While massage often focuses on relaxation or muscle tension, MAT goes a step further by addressing the root cause of imbalance. It combines soft tissue and muscle energy techniques to help restore alignment and reduce pain patterns.

  • No. Unlike traditional massage, you can remain clothed. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable athletic wear that allows for movement and stretching.

  • Sessions range from 25 to 115 minutes, depending on your goals and what we’re addressing. Shorter sessions are ideal for focused work on specific areas, while longer sessions allow for full-body alignment and integration.

  • Each session begins with a postural and movement assessment to identify imbalances. From there, hands-on work is customized to your needs. You’ll leave with a better understanding of your body and how to support continued improvement.

  • This varies by person. Some notice improvement after one session, while others with chronic issues may benefit from a short treatment plan to create lasting change.

  • Yes. MAT is particularly effective for chronic pain and tension in the neck, shoulders, hips, and low back, especially when caused by posture or repetitive movement patterns.

  • Absolutely. While MAT focuses on structure and movement, Massage and Reiki support relaxation and energy balance. You can book them separately or alternate based on your needs.

  • MAT is gentle and non-invasive, making it suitable for most clients. During your consultation, we’ll discuss any health concerns or injuries to ensure your session is safe, comfortable, and effective.

  • The most convenience and easy way to book a session is online. You may also call Creating Wellness and leave a message with any questions regarding booking an appointment.

Shushin-Do Reiki Workshops

Would you like to learn how to use Reiki to bring balance, clarity, and healing into your life and the lives of others? Shushin-Do Reiki is a system I created to return to the original spirit of Reiki as taught by Mikao Usui, focusing on spiritual growth, personal discipline, and direct energetic experience.

I now offer private training in Shushin-Do Reiki, with one-on-one or small group classes scheduled by request. Workshops are typically held over weekends (Friday to Sunday) and include traditional Reiju blessings, meditation, kotodama (sacred sound), and teachings rooted in Japanese spiritual practice.
